Liverpool celebrated skipper Steven Gerrard return with 3-0 victory over Newcastle United yesterday on Sunday. And the skipper’s delight in both his return and the manner of his side’s victory was apparent when he spoke to Setanta Sports after the game.

“It’s nice to be back,” he said. “Obviously no one like being injured, it’s frustrating. So it was nice to come back into a good performance and a good three points.”

The result also keeps the Reds’ hopes of winning the Premier League title and Gerrard still insist that his team would battle on until all possibility was extinguished.

“It’s not at an end until it’s over. We’ll keep fighting until the end. Manchester United have got a big Champions League game midweek and hopefully Manchester City can do us a favour next week. But realistically we know they’re favourites.”

James Bond 007 British Actor Danial Craig who is liverpool fan was also present to see Liverpool beat Newcastle United at Anfield.

According to The Sun report that Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez believes that Steven Gerrard will be fit in time before Liverpool clash with Newcastle on Saturday. It is also reported that Gerrard has started training after recovering from groin injury.

Benitez said to reporters, “Steven is doing well and is training with the rest of the team. I think he will be fit and available for Sunday. It is good news for the team and for him because he can be a key player for us over the remaining games. Without Steven the squad has been playing well and scoring goals, so that is positive.”

Rafa Benitez also insist that we are only concentrating for premier league win and denied any rumor of selling any player.

He said, “I was reading the press and they are talking about different players. I can guarantee today that we are not thinking about selling anyone. All we are thinking about is to do our job and to try and win the Premier League title, if possible.”

“After that you never know what can happen in the market. Clearly, at this moment, we are just preparing for winning games.”

Currently on points table Liverpool standing 2nd with 6 points behind leaders Manchester United. United will be in action on Saturday when they travel to Middlesbrough.
