Brazilian and Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva, who have played with both Kaka and Steven Gerrard rated Steven Gerrard a better and complete player compare to his countryman Kaka. Lucas believes that Gerrard has more attributes to his game than the Real Madrid star.

According to Lucas Steven Gerrard possesses tremendous versatility as well as telent and could excel in any position on the field. and thats what gives Gerrard the edge over Kaka. H claims Gerrard is as good in defence as he is on attack.

Lucas told LFC Weekly: “There are similarities with Kaka and Stevie but Stevie makes more of a contribution all over the pitch. Stevie is more complete in that sense because he can attack but also defend just as well. This is probably because Stevie has experience playing in a number of positions earlier in his career.”

“Even now, he is so good, he could probably play anywhere.”

According to The Castrol Ranking Gerrard is leading the race to Kaka. Steven Gerrard placed at No.65 while Kaka is at No.118.

Liverpool midfielder 22-year-old Brazilian Lucas Leiva believes that he can be hero at anfield like Steven Gerrard. Lucas who shows good form so far this season is in under pressure to perform following the sale of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid and the current injury to newly hired Alberto Aquilani.

Lucas Leive says his good form so far this season shows how much he has improved during his time at Anfield and he is hopeful that now he has a positive future ahead of him on Merseyside.

The Brazilian, who has struggled for consistency in past, also feels that playing alongside some of the game’s biggest stars like Steven Gerrard and Javier Mascherano means that he cannot fail to better himself in Rafa Benitez’s side.

Lucas Leiva told reporters: “I’m in my third season now and I’m playing more games. When you have players like Steven Gerrard and Javier Mascherano around, you can always learn and they can also help you.”

And Lucas drew a direct comparison between himself and Gerrard, implying that the England star did not arrive in the Liverpool first team as a fully-formed superstar.

He said: “Steven, 10 years ago, started like me. But when you are focused and you work hard you can get a chance.”
