Rafa Benitez while speaking to reporters Rafa said, “Cristiano Ronaldo is a great player, but I would not say he is the best in the world”. on other hand he said, “Gerrard and Torres combination is most dangerous in world”.

Cristiano Ronaldo was voted the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2008 after an outstanding season with Manchester United that saw him bag 42 goals in all competitions.

When asked about Ronaldo, Rafa Benitez said, “He is a great player, but I would not say he is the best in the world. Kaka is also there at the top, and Messi and Wayne Rooney and I believe we have two that can also be among the best in the world, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.”

“Gerrard is more dangerous playing behind Torres, who is also better with Gerrard behind him. I remember the Liverpool of John Toshack and Kevin Keegan, of Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush and the last time we won the title with John Barnes Peter Beardsley. Gerrard and Torres can be like them.

Rafa added, “For me, our strength will always be in the team, but it is also true that sometimes players win matches, and that great footballers can win important matches”.

“We know Aquilani will need a month or so, but I think that with Javier Mascherano, Lucas, Steven Gerrard and Damien Plessis we have enough depth,” Benitez said.

“But all of us at Liverpool know how valuable Gerrard is to the club and he would be worth more money than Cristiano Ronaldo,” he opined.

Jan Molby further revealed on the club’s official website that he was the subject of a transfer bid from Real’s competitive rivals Barcelona, but the deal fell through unexpectedly at the last minute.

On his conversations with the Catalunya outfit during his own playing days, Molby confirmed, “In November 1990 the transfer appeared set to go through. Liverpool had accepted a £1.6 million bid from Barcelona and I played in what I thought was my last game for the club against Luton.

“However, while I was away on international duty with Denmark the deal fell through. It would have been a nice experience to have played for Barcelona, but instead I stayed at Anfield for another six-years and that wasn’t too bad!”
