Liverpool captain and England’s best attacking Midfielder Steven Gerrard signed a new £25million four-year contract with Liverpool. and planning to stay at liverpool till his retirement.

Reds inspiring skipper agreed improved new contract of £125,000 / week in April and finally put his name to the deal yesterday evening after returning from holiday and joining his team-mates at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground.

Gerrard recently has announced that he intends retiring after his next Liverpool contract. The England midfielder is the latest Liverpool star to commit to a long-term deal this summer.

Steven Gerrard and liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has already promised to win the league title for Anfield giants in upcoming seasons.

Inspiring 29-year-old Liverpool skipper and worlds best attacking midfielder Steven Gerrard stunned everyone especiallly Liverpool fans by revealing that He may retire when his current contract expires in 2013.

Its been reported that Steven Gerrard has hinted previously that he is unlikely to play on into his mid-thirties and recently he did mentioned that FIFA Worldcup 2010 could be his last chance to win Worldcup for England.

Steven Gerrard said, “I will be 33 at the end of my contract and it’s doubtful whether I’ll carry on. If I decide to stop, I’ll be proud of the fact I’ve spent my entire career with the same club. And I don’t want to think about wearing any other shirt in the future.”

Gerrard also revealed that he gave serious thought to leaving Anfield for Chelsea four years ago, before changing his mind late in the day.

He Said, “I’ve thought about leaving Liverpool twice during my career, especially in 2005 when Chelsea was a temptation. But I’m glad I never turned those thoughts into reality”.

Reds Captain Steven Gerrard has insisted he is certain he will have a Premier League title by then. “If we don’t win the title this year, it’ll be the next, or the year after and that will be the greatest moment of my career.”

Last Night Steven Gerrard suggested that Liverpool bosses should bring back Michael Owen. 29-year-old Reds Captain would love to see Newcastle striker return to Anfield.

The Liverpool skipper, agreed to extend his contract which remains only two year left and now with extension fans of Liverpool will see him at club until 2013, and will see his wages rise nearly £20,000 to around £125,000 a week.

Boss Rafa Benitez said: “It is a very, very positive message to the players that we have the commitment of Gerrard, which means we can go forward and can concentrate on football. We are trying to keep the spine of the team here and with Gerrard we wanted to be sure we keep the captain for a long time.”

He admitted: “We want to show everyone is pushing in the right direction. With Stevie, as soon as we said we wanted to talk about an extension it was agreed very, very quickly.”

Gerrard’s deal was swiftly followed by a similar extension for Dirk Kuyt and Benitez now hopes to thrash out further agreements with Sami Hyypia, Alvaro Arbeloa, Fabio Aurelio and Daniel Agger.

Yet centre-back Jamie Carragher, who still has two years left, will have to wait until the end of the season for his fresh deal.

And Gerrard added: “I’ve never been happier than I am at the moment throughout my career. I’m playing in a top team with world-class players. And I believe in the manager and that, going forward, we can be successful.

“For years I have moaned about not being involved in a title race and being far away from the other teams. But at the moment I’m playing in a team capable of beating anyone in the league.”
