Steven Gerrarrd, Inspiring liverpool captain, who is ahead of 500 appearances for his club is determined to finish his playing career at Liverpool. He also re-admit that he wants to win the league with Liverpool.
Gerrard, 29-year-old, admits that there will be frustration even after playing so many games for the club, if he can’t bring the league title to Anfield.
He said: “There will be frustration, not for me but for the fans and the club, because I know in all my time here that is the trophy they want, and it is the one I want too”.
“It is an amazing feeling to reach that landmark. I remember I sneaked on against Blackburn to make my debut because we had some big players injured, and I never thought I would play this many times for the club”.
“My ambition then was to play just one game for Liverpool – that would have done. But now, I feel immensely proud to have reached this stage. My ambition is still there though, and I would love to win the title for the fans.”
However Gerrard has virtually given up hope of winning the Premier League this season. He said: “At the moment we’re out of the title race, but we will keep trying to get back in it. There is still a lot of football to be played and it is possible to turn it around. I think Chelsea are looking really strong but our main target is to get back into the top four”.
He continued: “We’ve under-achieved this season but there’s no-one more desperate than me to turn our fortunes around.”
At end Gerrard added: “I’m really happy at the club. Obviously, as captain I’m not happy with the league position and we certainly want to improve that. I’m really happy on and off the pitch.”
