There you go another award for Liverpool inspiring captain Steven Gerrard. 29-year-old Steven Gerrard win the inaugural Sunday Mirror/Football Supporters Federation(FSF)’s Player of the Year award.
According to The Mirror report, steven gerrard narrowly pipped his national team colleague Frank Lampard. “It was neck and neck between the two midfield stars for much of the season, but Gerrard squeezed past the Chelsea man at the finish with his inclusion in the May all-star side.”
142,000 strong FSF fans representing all 20 top-flight clubs cast their votes to select the exclusive Team of the Year.
Michael Brunskill, Director of Communication FSF, believes the poll gives one of the most accurate reflections of who was hot in 2008-09. He said, “Steven Gerrard was a thoroughly deserved winner of the individual award and I think that the team of the season voted on by fans every month gives a realistic insight into who the Premier League’s most consistent performers were.”
David Scripps, A Fan, said, “Another unbelievable season from Liverpool’s captain. He is an inspirational player for his club and without doubt one of the best players in the world. Does he ever have a bad game for Liverpool? If he does, I’ve never seen one!”
