England footballer Steven Gerrard headed out last night for the first time since his court appearance for a romantic dinner with his wife Alex Curran.

The Liverpool captain, who was cleared of assault despite admitting he repeatedly punched a man in a drunken row over music in a nightclub, took Curran for dinner to London’s Nobu Berkeley restaurant.

Curran, dressed in skinny jeans ripped at the knee, a sleeveless top and huge handbag, later accompanied Gerrard to the Mayfair hotel for a drink.

The judge told the £5million-a-year player that while he had been ‘unwise’ to pursue the ‘trivial’ dispute over what songs were played during a night out, he left the dock with his reputation intact.

As he emerged from the Liverpool Crown Court, Gerrard was applauded by fans who also shouted ‘Come on Rocky’ - a reference to the fact that the prosecution had spoken of Gerrard throwing punches like a professional boxer.

Although Alex didn’t attend the hearing, she certainly played the supportive wife last night.
