After confirming that Liverpool insipiring captain Steven Gerrard would not travel with his team to France for Champions League tie with Lyon, after failing to recover from the groin injury. Another shocking news blows Rafael Benítez when he was warned that striker Fernando Torres could require surgery on a hernia on Monday night.
Steven Gerrard who is ruled out for two weeks due to his groin injury. And the decision on whether Gerrard needs surgery for the problem is likely to be made by the end of the week.
Rafael Benitez said: “Gerrard has no chance [of playing]. He is improving. He has had an injection, but we have to wait for two or three days to see how he reacts.”
25-year-old Torres, who was travelling to Lyon, has been suffering from an inguinal hernia since the injury occurred last month. And according to reports Torres may not be able to continue his restricted pattern of training and playing with the club’s medical staff raising the possibility of the Spaniard going under the knife.
Liverpool injury problem is growing day by day and it seems its not gonna be over soon. Half of the team is sitting on the bench due to injuries.
