Former Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, who was very close to make a deal in 2005 when Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard change his mind at last minute, now once again eyeing for Steven Gerrard to join Inter Milan for £40million at end of this season.
According to Italian agent Claudio Pasqualin, Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho is working with the money men to put together a package to tempt Gerrard away from his home town club this summer.
Pasqualin claims that a few major surprises are on the cards at the end of this season and that Inter are prepared to break the bank for Gerrard.
Pasqualin said: “Teams are already working for the market in June and there will be surprises. Inter are working on the Steven Gerrard prospective given Liverpool’s economic difficulty. There are a number of important names that will come out further into the future.”
The news will alarm Benitez who admitted this weekend that he may be forced to sell his prized assets if Liverpool fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Benitez said: “If a club came in and offered a lot of money for a player then it would be about doing what is best for Liverpool”.
It will be very disappointed for all the Liverpool fans if this will happen. We grown up watching Stevie in Liverpool’s red shirt and will want to see him celebrating his glorious moments as a captain of Liverpool.
