Steven Gerrard has called for Uefa to make sure the club do not have to play on the anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy.

The upcoming Champions League quarter-finals are scheduled to be played on April 14 and April 15 – the latter emotive date being the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

Liverpool captain has strongly implored UEFA to repect the memory of the souls lost in the tragedy by making sure his club’s fixture does not fall on the 15th of the month, an emotional day of the year for many Liverpool fans.
